Download NixSCP for Linux and Windows
Free and open source (GPL-3.0). Pick the package for your system from the latest release; every package includes the graphical client and the nixscp-cli scripting client.
Which download do I need?
| Your system | Download |
|---|---|
| Ubuntu 26.04 | nixscp_<version>_ubuntu26.04_amd64.deb |
| Debian 13 | nixscp_<version>_debian13_amd64.deb |
| Fedora 42 / 43 | nixscp-<version>.fc42.x86_64.rpm / .fc43 |
| Other 64-bit Linux distributions | NixSCP-<version>-x86_64.AppImage, or build from source |
| Windows 10 / 11 (64-bit), installer | NixSCP-<version>-setup.exe |
| Windows 10 / 11 (64-bit), portable | NixSCP-<version>-windows-x64.zip |
Install a WinSCP-style client on Ubuntu and Debian
WinSCP itself only runs on Windows. To get the same interface on Ubuntu 26.04 or Debian 13, download nixscp_<version>_ubuntu26.04_amd64.deb or …_debian13_amd64.deb, then install it with apt, which also pulls in the required libraries:
sudo apt install ./nixscp_*_amd64.deb
NixSCP then appears in your applications menu. You can also start it from a terminal with nixscp, open a stored site with nixscp "My Server", or connect directly with nixscp sftp://user@example.com/var/www.
NixSCP needs libssh 0.11 or newer. Ubuntu 24.04 ships an older libssh, so there you need to build from source against a newer libssh.
Install on Fedora 42 and 43
Download nixscp-<version>.fc42.x86_64.rpm (or .fc43), then install it with dnf:
sudo dnf install ./nixscp-*.x86_64.rpm
AppImage for other distributions
The AppImage bundles Qt and the other libraries NixSCP needs, so it runs without installation on most 64-bit Linux distributions. Make it executable and start it:
chmod +x NixSCP-*-x86_64.AppImage
./NixSCP-*-x86_64.AppImage
If an AppImage does not start, your distribution may need FUSE support installed first; see your distribution's documentation for AppImages.
Install on Windows 10 and 11
The Windows version needs 64-bit Windows 10 or Windows 11. There are two downloads:
- Installer: download
NixSCP-<version>-setup.exeand run it. Optionally tick Add nixscp-cli to PATH so you can runnixscp-clifrom any Command Prompt or PowerShell window. NixSCP then appears in the Start menu. - Portable zip: download
NixSCP-<version>-windows-x64.zip, extract it to any folder and runnixscp.exe. Nothing is installed.
On Windows, NixSCP keeps its settings in %APPDATA%\NixSCP.
Build from source
NixSCP needs Qt 6, libssh 0.11 or newer and OpenSSL 3.2 or newer, plus CMake and a C++ compiler.
git clone https://github.com/codewizdevs/nixscp.git
cd nixscp
cmake -S . -B build -DCMAKE_BUILD_TYPE=Release
cmake --build build -j"$(nproc)"
sudo cmake --install build
Build dependencies on Ubuntu/Debian: sudo apt install build-essential cmake pkgconf qt6-base-dev libssh-dev libssl-dev
On Fedora: sudo dnf install gcc-c++ cmake pkgconf qt6-qtbase-devel libssh-devel openssl-devel
On Arch: sudo pacman -S base-devel cmake pkgconf qt6-base libssh openssl
After installing
- Coming from Windows? Import your WinSCP sites and settings from a portable
WinSCP.inior a registry export. PuTTY sessions,~/.ssh/configand FileZilla sites can be imported too. - Using SSH keys? PuTTY
.ppkkeys (v2 and v3) and OpenSSH keys work as they are, and NixSCP uses your ssh-agent. - Automating transfers? Run your WinSCP scripts with
nixscp-cli /script=script.txt. See WinSCP scripting on Linux. - Working on several computers? NixSCP Pro keeps your sites and open sessions in sync, end-to-end encrypted, and is free during the public beta. Create a free account.
macOS
NixSCP is available for Linux and Windows today; a macOS version is planned. Your sites move between computers in the same WinSCP.ini format, or automatically with NixSCP Pro sync.
