New-release check

A notice when a new NixSCP version is out. Nothing is installed automatically.

NixSCP tells you when a new version is released on GitHub. It never downloads or installs anything by itself.

How the check works

  • About 15 seconds after NixSCP starts, it asks GitHub for the latest release, at most once a day. No information about you, your sites or your settings is sent.
  • When a newer version exists, a notice offers Open download page, Skip this version or Remind me later. It does not block your work.
  • If GitHub cannot be reached, NixSCP tries again at the next start.

Settings

Preferences › Updates turns the check on or off (on by default), shows when it last ran, and has Check now. Administrators can also disable it by setting the NIXSCP_NO_UPDATE_CHECK environment variable.

Installing a new version

Get the package from the download page and install it over the old one: the .deb or .rpm with your package manager, a new AppImage file, the Windows installer, or the new portable zip. Your settings are kept.

The Help menu links to nixscp.com, to GitHub issues for bug reports and feature requests, and to the release history.
